To legitimately break a Guinness World Record in the "World's Largest Category" you must create a larger FUNCTIONING version of the origional. This is official Guinness Record Rules. A rubber band ball is an actual functioning object. The origin of the rubber band ball was designed to store rubber bands so that bands can be easily accessible by removing one when needed. When you create a ball made with rubber bands that are tied together in one continous chain of rubber bands and then wrap the chain around the ball, this does not create a true functioning rubber band ball. This basically creates a string ball made with rubber bands. This method makes the ball very large and heavy in a very short period of time. I too spent many dedicated years on my ball, although I individually stretched and wrestled every rubber bands around the circumference of Recordball. I never tied, stringed or chain linked my bands together. Hence, I truly still created the "World's Largest Rubber Band Ball" -John J. Bain

Actually there are rubber bands all the way to the core of the ball. The reason it was completed so quickly is because I dedicated an entire year putting bands on the ball every day for hours! also I purchased rubber bands in bulk so I always had a supply. advice after the ball gets big youll have to buy the full sized bands
